Lyster, possibly the busiest man in underground electronic music right now, is at it again with yet another release on his formidable YOUTH imprint, and the quality control shows no signs of waning.
Returning to the label for a second full-length, following last year’s ace Nihon No Ongaku / 日本の音楽 CD, Tokyo’s Hoshina Anniversary delivers yet again (and perhaps even improves) with the excellent 五七五七七 (Go Shichi Go Shichi Shichi) – a strong ten-track set of lush electronics and hard-hitting rhythmic workouts that recall prime 80s Sakamoto-sonics (and are also apparently inspired by Aphex’s SAWII) whilst simultaneously managing to push things forward.
